I had the privilege to be raised and influenced by my grandparents from birth and I have first hand experience of watching the ones you love so deeply and who cared for you enter into the later years of life afflicted with things like Dementia, illness that leads to Hospice care, and the hardships of removing a loved one from their home and into a care facility. Putting your trust into someone to give attentive, honest care for your loved one is difficult and often can cause feelings of sadness, anxiety and guilt in the family members who are making the call to hire outside giver of care. My goal is to bring respectful, dignified care to your loved one and respect the wishes and confidentiality of the family and individual requiring care.
Although I do not have a official certificate/medical training, the following are areas of care I have experience in:
1. Light Tracheostomy suction and care
2. Assistance with continued physical therapy exercises
3. Assistance with ambulation
4. Keeping a detailed log of any minor/major physical, emotional or cognitive changes
5. Making sure the loved ones environment is safe, clean and tidy
6. Making conversation stimulating and engaging so as to allow the loved one to feel heard, cared for and actively contributing to their own lives as much as they are able.
7. Assist with walking / cooking/ cleaning
8. Light massage therapy on hands and forearms, feet and ankles to encourage circulation and comfort.
I have worked in a more official capacity as a Nanny/Childcare giver, Doula, Customer Service Rep and assistant to the founder of a Non-Profit.
