Helene’s Bio
I started taking care of my own father who had Parkinson's when I was in college, until he passed away five years later. I wanted to be a nurse at the time because I discovered that I enjoyed taking care of my father. Due to financial restraints, though I did not become a nurse. It was expensive to go to a medical/nursing school. Instead I took up Business Administration, finished my MBA, and started teaching at a University. I've been teaching at the most prestigious colleges and universities in my country, the Philippines. I came to the US in 2009, two years after I got married to an African American. I began working as a Nanny/Tutor for almost four years and then later worked as a Caregiver/Companion. At present I work as a part-time Private Companion/Caregiver to an elderly lady with Dementia at The Rehabilitation Center of Beverly Hills, been with her for more than a year now. I have great compassion for the elderly because they remind me of my own parents whom I have cared for a long, long time. I was also amazed when I found out that Florence Nightingale, the World's First Nurse, had the same birthday as mine, May 12!!!
