Diane’s Bio

I am a former Special Education Teacher and district administrator in partial retirement. I would like to make a contribution to the aging population. In addition to my current BA in English, teaching credentials, and administrative credential, I have made a decision to pursue a masters degree in gerontology. I have years of experience being an advocate for underserved, overaged students that fell through the cracks. I believe my experiences, training, and education are a natural fit for serving our growing elderly population.

I do not have formal training or certificates in gerontology yet, but I am willing and able to learn. Prior to becoming an educator, I volunteered at a nursing home where I served as a companion to elderly clients that no longer had any family members to care for them. This was some of the most rewarding times of my life. The opportunity confirmed that I value service, and would dedicate my life to helping others in need.
