Hi there! My name is Amanda and I have worked or volunteered care for many years. In my other profiles, you will find that I am an experienced educator and pet sitter. This profile will specifically talk about other care duties such as caring and companionship.

As a child, I helped care for my elderly grandmother. As a teen and young 20's I cared for her by taking her to Kaiser appointments, beauty salon, and grocery shopping. I read stories to her and spent time talking and listening to her stories. In her 90s, she developed dementia so many family members stopped visiting her because she became forgetful. I continued to visit her on a regular basis and brought her special treats such as her favorite sandwich from Subway! I also have experience caring for both of my parents, who are now elderly. My mother is a massive heart attack survivor and I helped take care of her when she was very ill. My father is diabetic and I have helped care for him when he has had blood sugar lows.

I feel most comfortable in the companionship role, visiting, and spending time with someone in need. I am comfortable helping with errands or other basic tasks. I do work full time during the week and am only available on weekends.
