Debbie’s Bio

Care giving has always seemed very natural to me. I grew up in Fremont, volunteering at the Masonic Home in Union City where my mother was an assist administrator. I have always had a love & passion for assisting those in need no matter how small or large the need may be. I spent my summers & breaks from school attending activities with the seniors which included going for walks, assisting them to dining rooms for meals, taking to barber or beauty shop appointments, on site Dr. appointments etc. I spent many hours working puzzles or playing checkers, etc with the residents. After graduating high school I attended beauty college & obtained my cosmetology license. I then worked as an independent contractor in the beauty salon at the Masonic Home for 2 years. I enjoyed socializing with the ladies while making them beautiful. Eventually due to sensitivity to some of the chemicals on a daily basis, I was forced to seek a new career. I eventually ended up in the mortgage business for 9 years. I married in 1992 & have spent the past 22 years raising my family. I have three awesome sons ages 20, 19 & 15. It was important for me to be home with them during their younger years so I became a childcare provider. I was the owner of Debbie's Daycare in Livermore for 14 years. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of so many little lives as they grew into awesome adults. We are still friends with many of the families today & it's amazing to see some of those children now attending college and starting their families as well. My mother retired early to assist & become the primary caretaker for both my stepfather's parents. I was the backup caretaker for both of them for 10 years until their passing.
In 2005 my husband was injured after building bridges for 23 1/2 years in the baby area. Upon taking a disabled retiree package we decided to make our move to God's country. We moved to Valley Springs in 2008 & my mother moved to Ione in 2006 & absolutely love it. In 2009 I met a neighbor of my mothers. She was a retired Catholic school teacher & former nun. My mother & I took turns assisting her, cleaning, visiting & keeping her company. We would take her to run errands as needed. She passed April 2013 at 86 yrs young. My youngest is a freshman in high school & a 4.0 student. He is very self disciplined. So at 49 years old I find myself once again looking to assist or give companionship now that my older 2 have moved out to start their lives & the nest is semi empty.
