I have been a care companion full and part time since 1997.
My job duties included the following:
Preparing light meals, assisting patients with getting dressed and bathing, medication reminders, laundry, grocery shopping and to and from doctor appointments.
I interacted with my patients with discussions on world topics, playing cards and table games. Some liked to color so I provided coloring materials. This helped them explore their creative side. Also
assisted them with their daily exercises when prescribed by their. physical/occupational therapists.
My first aide and CPR certifications have expired.
I have also taken several gerontology courses at Gateway Community College in New Haven.
