Rachel’s Bio
I have experience caring for children and adults with special needs. I cared for a non verbal, low functioning autistic boy from age 4-8. I independantly took him on outings, administered medication, potty training, observed numerous ABA therapy sessions, cared for him for 24 hour periods (independently over night.) I have cared for an autistic male adult with limited mobility and seizure disorder. I assisted him with morning care; getting ready for school, using the bathroom, bath, getting dressed, breakfast etc. I am a classically trained musician and I have taught music lessons to children on the autism spectrum and children with ADD/ ADHD. I also have been a personal care assistant to a paraplegic college student, assisting with morning routine. I have learned so much about the world and myself by looking through the lens of disabled and special needs individuals. I love the challenge and reward of building loving, caring, relationships with them and assisting them in living happy and fulfilling lives, regardless of limitations.
