As a little girl and growing up I never had a grandparent, so I always pretended that my moms aunt who was elderly was my grandma. I've always thought of elderly people the most wise and sweetest! In 2010 my grandmother in law found out she had cancer, I had always help grandma Stella with anything she needed or just someone to talk to. By May 2013, Grandma Stella's cancer had spread through out her body making it stage four cancer, she wasn't going to beat it this time the doctor had said. She had moved in with my husband and I, I helped my mother in law take care of her, by bathing, rubbing her feet with lotion, tried to feed her, talked to her even when she wasn't able to speak back, when she was able I helped her walk a little bit. May was a very hard month to see my best friend and grandmother who taught me so much be in this state. On June 17th Stella had taking her last breath, even though it was the hardest thing by letting her go I felt good that she knew she had family and people around who cared and loved her. Everyone deserves love no matter what. If I can give that love and companionship to an older person, child, or even an animal and they know they are loved then I feel complete!
