I started working in assisted living in 2009. I have always had love and compassion for the elderly. I was a resident aide and medication assistant for six years. I became a private caregiver for one of the elderly ladies in the facility. She was paraplegic and required a lot of extra care. I helped her with dressing, bathing, eating, mobility, companionship, and any care that she received. I also was a private caregiver for an elderly gentleman in a facility assisting him with bathing, dressing, companionship, and all other care he required. I worked with both of these individuals for six months each. I have been working in assisted living since 2009 as a caregiver, medication assistant, cook, and now dietary manager. I feel that the elderly need special attentive care and support, and that is what I most enjoy, being able to make them feel comfortable and cared for.
