Aurelie L. Care Companion in Miami, FL 33179

Greetings! My name is Aurelie Louis. I am a native of Haiti and have been an American citizen for over 20 years. I am fluent in English, Creole and French. I have three children (one of whom is a doctor completing her residency, the other a college student) and reside with them in North Miami Beach. I have been a certified nursing assistant at Treasure Island Care Center since 1999, where I assist elderly, sick and disabled patients with various activities. During that time period, I applied for a part-time position as a caregiver and that’s how I was introduced to Susan Abbey, a multiple sclerosis patient living in Aventura, FL who, due to her medical condition, was limited in her mobility. Susan was looking for a caregiver to assist her every morning with errands, and I assisted her on weekday mornings before heading to my other job in the afternoon. Eventually Susan’s medical condition became more severe, so she moved to Boca Raton to live with her sister. We worked out a schedule where I would spend 2 weekends per month (Thursday through Monday) in their home caring for Susan. My duties involved running errands, grocery shopping, taking Susan to doctor’s appointments, dropping her off at social events with friends, cooking meals and assisting her with bathing and getting ready for bed. Recently, Susan’s sister (who had been working and was the main provider for her and Susan) regretfully informed me of her plans to retire and sell their Boca Raton home. They will be going their separate ways – Susan will have her own apartment and to squeeze under budget, will only require the services of 1 caregiver (not the 2 caregivers she been accustomed to having). Since I am working at Treasure Island part time and reside in Miami, Susan decided to enlist the other caregiver (who’s availability is much more flexible than mine) as her only aide. That leaves me seeking a new opportunity in the private care realm. I worked closely with Susan Abbey over the last 20 years and she has gotten to know me on a deeply personal level. She will endearingly tell you about how patient, caring, trustworthy and reliable I am. Being a caregiver requires an infinite level of patience and kind-heartedness, and I have developed both after more than two decades in the field. I look forward to starting the next chapter of my caregiving career with a new individual who requires assistance, and I look forward to making their life easier in any way possible.
