Sylvia’s Bio
I enjoy working with senior citizens mainly because I like to make whoever I am working with feel better, whether it be physically or emotionally. The long stories of history and wisdom is an added perk.
I have been taking care of senior citizens mostly in a hospital and emergency care setting. I have worked as a nursing assistant and an Emergency Medical Technician. I have provided support for an elderly woman with housekeeping, exercise, bathing and meal preparation. And of course long chats. In the patient advocacy realm I have worked as a patient navigator in breast cancer and in prescription drug insurance.
I finished my master's in Public Health and I am looking forward to developing relationships and environments focused on the health of mind and body. I am currently taking courses in gerontology and volunteering at a local senior center so I am continually developing my understanding of the needs of seniors and how I can better provide care and companionship.
