Hi, I'm Carey. I have been a caregiver since 1997. First with my grandmother who suffered a stroke and had to be bathe, changed, transported, positioned and fed until she died in 2008 at the age of 94.
I been sharing the care of my daughter since 2000. She had a
stroke also which led to seizures and aphasia. Her medication has to be
closely monitored. These experiences have given me the patience and insight
to handle any situation. But the most important aspect is acceptance and trust of your love one. Without it really does not matter the qualifications of the caregiver. I shared the care of my daughter with a
professional agency. After about the 4th caregiver we seemed satisfied.
Unfortunately, she was coming back into the house during our absences
and staling a little at a time. But she was checked by the agency. I've been where you are. I know the road ahead.
