In 2005, I moved into the home of a quadripelgic and became her part-time nights and weekends home health caregiver. She trained me according to her needs. During that time, I was working fulltime during the day as an Administrative Associate Temp with Kelly Services.
Also, during that time, I took on a full-time assignment and assisted a friend's mother for over two months. During that time, I began interfacing with an RN who suggested I become a certified nursing assistant if I wanted to stay in the field. So I went to CNA school in 2009 and became certified. I started working with BrightStar home health care agency after getting my certification and work periodically with them for over 2 years.
Then when I moved to another area, I worked with Comfort Keepers. After leaving that area, I became re-employed with BrightStar and also Nurse Management Services However, my CNA certification expired due to my not working in home healthcare at that time so I was not able to renew it.
Recently I relocated to a new area and in March 2015, I became employed with Senior Helpers in Peachtree City. I have now gone through their Personal Care Assistant (PCA) training which is non-medical and similar
to CNA certification.
I am currently employed with them, working a few hours each week.
