Susan’s Bio

I have worked in health care for several years, in direct patient care, management, and education. For a very short time in 2007 I was employed at a nursing home. While I really love working with the elderly population, I found nursing home work to be very discouraging. I never felt, at the end of the day, that my residents received the care they deserved. They were always given adequate care, but is that really enough? I don't think so. In 2008-09, I was given the opportunity to care for my mother in her home as dementia and a major heath event took away her independence. My sisters and I were determined that mom would not go to a nursing home to spend her final years. It was sometimes difficult, but always rewarding. I have tremendous respect for families who make the decision to care for their loved ones at home. I believe that providing home care for our elderly parents is truly the best way to give them the care that they deserve.
