I am a Filipina caretaker. My first client was a comatose teenage girl. I bathed, dressed, and prepared her for daily living. I had to find what made her comfortable, feed her, and give daily medications and daily exercise. My second patient was an elderly man who had been the Lebanon boxing champion in the Olympics. One of his Olympic friends was America's Muhammed Ali. His doctor trained me in administering shots and oral medications. I helped my client overcome a serious illness, bathed, dressed, and cooked the important meals he needed. I lived with him 24 hours each day taking care of him and administering medications every four hours when severely ill. He loved sports and we spent many hours enjoying and talking about his favorite athletes. He was able to regain many physical skills his doctor showed me how to reteach him to use.
