In 2001, I met a 19 year old young man with Autism who needed total care. I developed a relationship with he and his family that has continued through every agency in this town. I have worked with him for all this time, moving from one provider to another for whatever reason. In the last 3 years, I became part of the day program he attends, because he has moved into supported living, and by working in the day program, I was able to monitor his care, assuring his family his diet was being adheared to, that he was clean, and kept safe. During this time, I became the "group leader" for a total of 3 other Autistic men, of varying places on the spectrum. Such a rewarding job.
