My name is Marie, I'm 47 yrs young. I have a 26 yr young son who is mentally handicapped, Fragile X Syndrome. I have first-hand experience with the personal care needs of those who still need assistance, including the elderly. I learn through first-hand experience how to provide the speech, occupational, and physical therapy needs for my son and for several elderly individuals that I've had the privilege of working with.
Unfortunately, I have just as much experience dealing with the many behavioral issues that have came up in my sons life. I've read till I can't read no more and I've searched till I can search no more and that's when tough love took on a whole new meaning for me.
I worked for 5 years at an animal hospital. One of the best jobs I've ever had. Besides learning how to care for animals, rather the cat or dog was there for day-stay, a check-up, or surgery, I also learned a new kind of patience. Through personal struggles of my own, I found a new kind of peace with the animals and it ran right over into my life.
I have 5 grandchildren that I love dearly and a husband I've been married to for 20 years. I love the outdoors and I love taking care of others.
