I am a married mother of three, who lives in Covington, Louisiana. Up until recently, I worked for fifteen years in the world of finance. However, it was the years flanking those 15 years in which my heart was most fulfilled, when I made the choice to care for others by being present during their greatest times of need. Thankfully, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a first time stay at home mother to our 3rd child, but it will soon be time for our little caboose to start school. With our youngest starting school and our two teenagers, who both recently began driving and will soon graduate high school, I have decide to return to work. Instead going back into finance, I desperately want to continue on the path which truly feeds my heart and soul. I want to care for people again, namely the elderly, to help them live out the last years of their lives with dignity and joy and to also gain some great experiences of my own along the way. My experience is broad and ranges from being a companion to the elderly, running errands, preparing meals, medication management, assisting with personal care/ grooming/dressing, performing light housekeeping, taking field trips, providing transportation to and from doctor's appointments and other places as needed. In the past, I was a private care provider for my best friend's grandmother, I cared for my own grandmother after her cancer diagnosis and placement of a colostomy bag, I provided care for my stepfather's parents (He was receiving hospice care and she suffered from Alzheimer's disease) and I also worked at Christwood Retirement Community for three years. I have been told I have an old soul and I have always had a soft spot for senior citizens. I truly believe we can gain such valuable knowledge from the generations that came before us, we just have to be willing to listen and be patient and compassionate towards them.
