I am 53 years of age. I became a caregiver but not by choice. My oldest son was in an automobile accident which left him paralyzed with several other complications. I worked in the oilfield industry all my life and continued to do so after his accident. I became his caregiver also in the evenings and weekends after I returned home from my day job. I cared for Jamie for 5 years until he pasted away 12/1/2008. I learned alot about taking care of an individual in my sons condition. Physdicasl therapy, breathing treatments, tube feedings, administering medications, tracheotomy procedures and just having patience to deal with brain injury. Since he has passed, I miss caring for him. I treat other sick people as I would my own child.
