As a teenager, I spent a great deal of time babysitting or visiting with my grandmother. When my children were very young, I ran a daycare out of my home. I have cared for children of all ages and skill; ADHD, cerebral palsy, and disabled. I have had some wonderful experiences spending time with the elderly, as well. In my last job, I cared for a 91 year old woman. I slept over her home 5 nights a week just to be there for her as a companion. We enjoyed watching the baseball game, drinking tea and chatting about old times, sharing great laughs, or going for walks in the park. Although this was the first paying job I have had as a companion, I do have a lot of experience with the elderly. I am fun, loving, and very patient. My goal with each person, young and old, is to make sure that each one feels cared for, heard, and appreciated for their uniqueness. I love celebrating with a child when they are proud of mastering something new and i truly enjoy listening to the stories of "the good old days."
