Charlene’s Bio

I am an engaging and pleasant companion, kind, thoughtful, reliable and organized. I have Red Cross first aid, CPR & resuscitation training as well as counseling experience.
I have cared for terminally ill individuals and those struggling with dementia.
Families find me respectful of their needs. I will relieve a good deal of pressure and anxiety from your shoulders.
I assist your elderly parent with basic needs, getting dressed, making meals, accompanying them shopping - and when they are no longer capable, doing it for them.
I take them for medical care, assist them to order and take medications, help with basic house-cleaning and brighten their days with my physical presence and conversation (if wanted), or reading to them, and running errands. I am a writer by profession so if your elderly parent is someone who is engaged with the world and wants interesting conversation they will find it in me.

My small dog Barnaby suffers from separation anxiety so I searched for a pet sitter who could stay with him and would not leave him at any point. This concentrated time period can be all consuming for someone but Charlene is always up to the task. When Barnaby greets Charlene, each and every time, he is so excited that he jumps up on her at least 15 times. He enjoys her company so much. They take walks together, play ball and when relaxing, he sits hip to hip with her on the sofa. Charlene is very gentle and comforting to him. Any pet parent who is searching for a wonderful caretaker, a caretaker who will love your pet as much as you do, someone who is considerate, knowledgeable and reliable, would be lucky to have Charlene on their team.

What can i say? Charlene is a gem. A sweet and caring person and someone i wholeheartedly have trusted for almost 2 years with my 4 legged companions. i have 2 cats and one is diabetic requiring a special diet as well as daily insulin injections. Charlene has been terrific in handling both. I also had a cat, who had cancer, and Charlene was great in taking care of his special needs. She is reliable and a pleasure to engage with. 4 paws up!

Usually, when we arrive home after an extended vacation, our very social cat gives us a good scolding. Not so after ten days care with Charlene! She came twice daily to feed and medicate our elderly cat during our recent trip, which was concurrent with the Marathon bombings and the subsequent search not too far from our home. Charlene managed to get to our house throughout the events in order to keep Boots’ bowls filled for all possible contingencies and let us know by email what she was doing. We highly recommend Charlene for her warmth and her professional attitude, but most of all for her commitment to caring for our pet.

Charlene did a wonderful job caring for my parrots and fish while I was away on Christmas vacation. During the trip, she communicated with me every few days by email, letting me know that the birds were doing well. When I arrived home, I happily found the birds to be content and the cages appeared cleaner than when I left. All in all, I highly recommend Charlene for pet care and plan to use her services again in the future.

Charlene took care of my cat for about 10 days and was absolutely delightful. She loves pets and her home is very pet-friendly. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet-sitter, even on short notice. Thank you Charlene!!

Charlene is warm, funny, and highly capable, and I knew the moment I met her that my elderly cat would love her. (Which he did--she has been gone for 3 days and he's still looking for her.) She brings to her animal care a blend of top-notch professionalism and a very personal approach. Charlene did overnights for us, and I would not hesitate to recommend her for any level of pet care. She went above and beyond in every way--from coming over on a dime, unplanned, when I mixed up our start dates (sorry Charlene!), to being patient with me as I tore my hair out during a stressful trip, to offering to go to the store for us the day before we came home (we arrived back Thanksgiving day). And that was just the people care. More important, I got home to find a very loved and spoiled cat--he wasn't nearly as angry with us for leaving as he usually is. :) In short, Charlene's a gem. I only hope we're lucky enough to have her again the next time we travel. -Melissa P, Belmont

Charlene is absolutely fabulous!! I feel completely relaxed leaving my cat (Niela) in Charlene's care. She is extremely reliable, professional, and trustworthy. Charlene stays in touch via e-mail and even writes a pet sitter diary with photos - it was wonderful to come home and read what Niela did each day, including play time, eating.... Charlene goes the extra mile, including spending extra time with Niela if she senses that she is feeling lonely, watering my garden and cleaning up after Niela. I highly recommend Charlene to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter who really cares about animals. I can ensure you that you will be more than pleased leaving your pet in Charlene's wonderful and capable hands.
