I was a home care associate for 1.5 years until the company decided to do away with it. While I was working with them I was able to experience one on one care with elderly residents. I assisted them with their ADL's, personal care, light house keeping etc. Then I became a personal care associate and experienced working with multiple residents throughout the day. I was able to help each residents start their day, attend meals, and activities, watch them interact with each other. I became a caregiver because I wanted to be able to put someone else's needs before my own, I wanted to encourage residents to still be active even though they are aging. The best experience I have gained from working with senior citizens is learning their backstories and how they grew up different from how I did. I do have CPR certification, I have experience with Dementia and Alzheimers disease.
