Experiences:
I'm a current volunteer at Genesis Eldercare in the Dementia Unit. Here, I interact with the residents in all types of activities such as helping out with social activities (bingo, current events discussions, games) as well as transporting patients to different locations within the facility. My favorite thing to do is distribute mail and packages to the residents because it gives me a chance to chat and check up on everyone!
I also worked at Anne Arundel Medical Center in the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center where I worked with patients 65 years of age and older. Here, I taught rehabilitative exercises, removed surgical staples and splints, made casts, and educated patients on medication administration and activity precautions.
Lastly, I worked at a durable medical equipment company where I helped older patients find the right urology, wound care, hospital bed, wheelchair or walker! I personally delivered or coordinated with the right people to make sure that patients received their correct supplies on time.
