I was a direct care worker for over two years for adults with developmental disabilities, which included medication dispensing, assisting with daily living skills including hygiene and food preparation, and taking home members shopping and on outings. For a few months, I assisted a middle-aged man who was paralyzed from the chest down with getting ready for work in the mornings. I also did home care for a few months with a woman in her 90s after she had broken her arm.
