Christopher’s Bio
I became a care companion back in 2015. I cared for two separate women. One had Alzheimer's and Dementia. The other was just frail due to age and I did all of her shopping, cleaning, laundry, ironing, cooking, and other needs. I was able to accomplish everything that I wanted in the law (judge, magistrate, prosecutor, attorney, and legal counsel for the Legal Center for People with Disabilities), and I wanted to do something more rewarding.
I am extremely passionate about this profession. I took over a dozen courses offered by the agency that I worked with in the Denver metro area. I have had CPR training, Alzheimer's training, dementia training, and cooking. I actually lectured to all of the officers in each of the Colorado Springs area about what to look for as far as physical, mental, or financial abuse of seniors. I had prosecuted a number of individuals (including a minister) who at least took financial liberties (stealing), and sometimes physical or sexual abuse, of the seniors who were in their care. This was my focus and concentration when a prosecutor in Denver and Colorado Springs - studying up on all of the care devices (Hoyer lift, etc.) for seniors.
You can be rest-assured that I am extremely conscientious, dedicated and loyal to my clients, as well as my supervisors. The only thing that my prior agency suggested was not taking so many notes. As a judge, I didn't have a court reporter, so I needed to take as many, specific statements and activities on the file, so that we didn't need to order a transcript. So, although it took a little while for me to learn, I was able to just hit the highlights of my shift. I have two dogs and a cat, so I am very comfortable with pets. I provide home care, respite care, and transportation services.
