I became a care companion when I realized that being disabled or not able to tend to yourself could possibly happen to me one day. Making me realize that hopefully as much as I can help someone, that in return someone will help me. The first person I took care of was a cancer/dementia gentlemen. I sat with him for almost a year. I am now with a woman who has dementia, I have been with her for over a year now on a part time basis.
