Fanisha’s Bio
I have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. When I began working a Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE) in New York, it was just a part-time job. As I continued to work with the clients that lived in the home that I was assigned to, they began to become like family to me. I realized that the stigmas and stereotypes that I had been exposed to, were just that. My clients simply wanted to be seen as people and to have the same friendly interactions as everyone else. This made the job 100% more fulfilling to me because I felt like I was making a difference in their lives.
FREE provided CPR and First Aid training, which I have had renewed, and also Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) training.
