. I am a recent graduate of the University North Carolina Greensboro with a Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. I have successfully passed the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist exam. Recent experience since Graduation 2016, I have obtained coordinating and implementation experience through my internship in Falls Church, Virginia at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroad. At Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroad I help assist with providing continuing care for older adults. During this experience I have been able to evaluate residents through Therapeutic Recreation assessments, MDS, care plans, progress notes and hospice related documents. I have led care plans and stand up meetings to solicit feedback for residents. During my position as an Director of Therapeutic Recreation in Alexandria VA, I completed all same task and was allowed the opportunity to compose and implement a new entry policy through my special project, which is used in a continuum for residents who meet specific cognitive requirements. I have truly gained significance experience through my job and internship that I think would allow me to excel as a Recreation Specialist.
In addition, I also have experience with providing inclusion care for children of all ages and functionalities. I have created assessment based action plans and created interventions to meet designated goals. This job opportunity allowed me to integrate children with disabilities into a well-being community in order to provide quality of life. The quality of life is a vital asset to all individuals and I enjoy creating that possibility for everyone. I plan to further my education through pursuing my Licensure in SES. My overall moral rule is building relationships with people and implementing leisure activities that are both beneficial, interactive, and uplifting for all populations to participate in. When I become a SES teacher or EC coach I want to have the same positive impact on the youth population too.
My top 3 personal goals are: Finish Graduate school with my Masters, Move out of North Carolina to pursue my singing career, and eventually create music that stimulates mind, body, and emotional state of any population that has a disability.
I am excited to be entering the education field and working with children again. I have always had a passion for working with children and since I will eventually become an Special Education Teacher, I want to insert the same mindset and goals for them.
