I have a CNA certificate but have not renewed. I also have training in CPR. Even though I have worked in clinical settings I prefer to do private duty care. I enjoy the one-on-one relationship. Most of my experience has come from caring or helping to care for my family members. I cared for my grandmother for many years, even living with her from time to time. I managed her care, made and transported her to doctor appointments, worked with insurance companies and Medicare in order to ensure proper medical care for her. I kept her records of blood pressure and other vitals signs. I have experience with oxygen care, medications, wound care, and bathing the patient.
I also have experience working with patients experiencing dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
I understand the special care that is required to care for patients that have for whatever reason become unable to care for themselves. Being reared by my grandmother and caring for her thought me to respect and always offer a kind word to those who depend on others for their daily activities.
Another area of experience is the special care it takes for cancer patients. I understand first hand what it takes on a daily basis to care for them. Sometimes it means special medications and yet other times it might mean special foods.
I truly love to help other people and hope that I can continue to help others for a long time.
