I worked for a year for an organization (in 2010) that cared for Developmentally Disabled Adults. I had all the required training at that point, such as some state mandated training, CPR and first aid. I believe the CPR and first aid are probably formally expired but I do remember them and have had them more than once. I took care of two young men on a one-on-one basis, one with pretty severe MR and some mild physical disabilities and very limited speech, the other young man had high-functioning autism. With both we did a lot of activities, walking, errands, recreation etc. I also have experience caring for friends and family members with mental illness, dementia and Parkinson's disease.
