Have been a caregiver for over 15 years off and on . Last place of employment was with Bayada HHC in New Bern ,N.C. .This company moved it's office to Wilmington and has no clients in the Carteret County area as they released them from their contracts in order to move to new location . My first place of employment was Sailors Snug Harbor back around 1983ish . I live in Tusk . Am 61 years old and love taking care of the elderly . I can take B/P , give medication reminders , monitor heart rate , temps, Can take to Dr.appointments , run errands , take client for outings , do basic meal prep , bathing , etc. I am a smoker but not when i'm at work unless it's okayed by client and then i will go outside the home for a quick break AFTER client's needs are met first . They are of the utmost importance FIRST . I have never been dismissed from a cluent or office , EVER . I was nominated caregiver of the month at Bayada about 3 years ago . Have also done sitting for private clients . Was with one client till he passed and was right there when he did . Am very honest , probably to my own detriment . Was working with a private company with an elderly gentleman . He would want me to help him do his financing on the computer when i noticed that the company i was employed with was taking money out that was not in place for them to take . I notified my elderly client and he dismissed her company . The company did the same thing with my other client and i notified that client also . That company went out of buisness but my clients kept me on till they had to go into 24 hour care .
