My last position was for a family member in his 90's with dementia, diabetes and Parkinson's. I was asked since I was between jobs to help out and I worked 3 days a week. The following is how I helped him during my 6 months with him.
* Provided home cooked healthy meals (watching salt & sugar intake as well as allergy ingredients).
* Administered medicine as instructed.
* Engaged in conversation and show family photos to stimulate memory function.
* Watched classic movies especially war themed which helped with memory stimulation.
* Assisted in using the walker and wheel chair.
* Assisted with adult undergarment changing.
I love and respect the elders. Very responsible and trustworthy person. I thank my Polish grandmother for teaching me the love of gardening, and I thank my mother for teaching me to have compassion for animals, nature, and humanity.
