I initially became a caregiver as a result of a brain aneurysm my mother suffered 2 weeks prior to her 50th birthday in 2011. I have had the luxury of having a diverse employment history from Retail & Customer Service Management to Personal Shopping, Recreation Therapy to an Assistant Director over an after school program, but none of these titles were as rewarding or as fulfilling as caring my mother back to health. I stepped out on faith a walked away from my employer to devote all of my time and energy into my mother's recovery.

Our journey (road to recovery) is still in progress but I witnessed my mother go from being given 48 hours to live to being told that she would never be able to talk, walk, eat by mouth, she would have to reside in a nursing facility for the rest of her life and not lead a cognitively or physically independent life but that was over 3 years ago and she has contradicted all of those prognosis. I fought for her and with her to gain back her independence and the life she was robbed of. Everything medical and social service professionals said was impossible we have proved to be possible as because we included faith, hard work and determination into our equation.
