Being a parent and a yoga instructor has cultivated the qualities needed to be an excellent Care Companion. Parenting enhances all the skills for a Care Companion, compassion, definitely patience, organization skills which are needed to balance a work schedule, kids, school, and activities; as any parent knows and understands.
When my Great Aunt and grandmother were wheel chair bound; I manage the same duties as a Care Companion, light housekeeping, cooking, running errands, meal preparation, and laundry.
One quality that has enhanced with maturity with becoming a parent is giving. Giving another person what they need without getting anything in return. Its essential quality that makes a person an excellent caregiver.
Presently, I am a Yoga Instructor teaching Senior Chair Yoga Classes and Kids Yoga at the YMCA. As an instructor, I am familiar with some of the possible physical challenges that may accompany people as they age.
I have been at the YMCA for three years and I enjoy the community family environment. I am currently CPR/First Aid Certified.
