I am a mature Italian woman who had been a 2 year caregiver for my mom who sadly passed away in 2017. I helped mom with her medications, preparing meals, cleaning the home, doing errands of grocery shopping and picking up her prescriptions. I also escorted her to doctors appointments, she needed some assistance with walking as she had to use a walker to keep herself steady. After her death, I was a companion for a lovely 90 year old woman who was currently in the hospital for severe bed sores. She also had a stroke a few years before and was unable to feed herself. I visited her 4 times a week and we listened to music, spoke about current affairs or watched crime shows like Law and Order. Unfortunately she passed away only 4 weeks after I started working for her. My most current position was working for a 91 year woman with dementia. I started helping her since Oct. 2018 until January 2021, basically the usual jobs, cleaning, meal preparation, making sure she takes her medications, some grocery shopping and taking care of her 6 cats too! Facing the challenge of keeping a dementia person safe, I have alot of patience and understanding of how devastating and frustrating this condition is, not only for the patient, but the family as well.
