I live in Manhattan, and I became a Certified Nursing Assistant since 1998. I have 10 years of experience as a CNA, both in a facility and in home health.
A great companion, I love interacting with clients, whether they communicate verbally, or non-verbally, due to memory concerns. I am an animated reader, reading anything from a client's favorite novel, to the daily newspaper. Also, I am a singer and a pianist, and I often sing for --and with-- clients. Having experience in home health, I am careful to keep a home tidy, while I work. I do light housekeeping, meal preparation, and laundry. And I work to keep the home environment safe. Also, I have experience in assisting clients, as they go out to restaurants, shopping for clients, and providing safety in ambulation, while shopping.
Heavily trained in dementia care, I have had numerous trainings in working with Alzheimer's patients. I am experienced with fall risk monitoring, taking and recording blood pressure and blood sugar readings, diabetic diet, MS, asthma and oxygen tanks. And I am comfortable and experienced with medication assistance.
