Imelda M. Care Companion in Corona, NY 11368

My name is Imelda Magpantay but you can call me Aimee. I am 47 years old, Filipina, married, have 3 kids, a 24 years old son who is still in the Philippines and 2 daughters, 16 and 15 years old, who lives with me here in New York. I came here in the US to work as a housekeeper. I worked in different hotels in different states of America. After my contract with my last employer, I decided to come here in New York to work as a companion or a caregiver.
I started working as a caregiver when my landlady's friend was looking for someone to work night shift for a 95 years old, Jewish elderly who was sick at that time and was at the hospital. This elderly man was also legally blind. I worked for him for two months only. After him, I met a lady who was also looking for women who wants to work as companions or caregivers for the elderly, sick or not. She manages them for her clients. So, I called her and I was luckily hired. While under her management, I was able to meet and care for different elderly people with different health problems.I have Jewish patients, orthodox and unorthodox, Christians and Catholics. Most of my patients have Dementia particularly Alzheimer's Disease. Most of them have health problems but were able and only a few have limited movements or disability. I have men and women elderly as patients. I worked part time and full time and in homes or in the rehabilitation centers or nursing homes. I do housekeeping for them too.
As a caregiver or a companion for the elderly, I believe one has to possess great knowledge and understanding for them - physically, mentally and emotionally. Meaning, one has to know everything about their patients. Its not just, giving them pills or giving them baths. One has to know and understand their feelings too. One has to know how to make them happy, respected, confident of themselves and feel loved.
As an applicant, I can only present myself as humble as I am. I have no training nor certificates to show from the city of New York but i am intending to get one as soon as possible. For my credibility and character, I can only offer my promise to do my best and to put my heart in my job, and to provide character references or recommendations from my previous employers if needed.
