Hi .. I'm Karen
I have 25 years experience as an RN. (also a mother of two grown children and one very special first, grand daughter !)
In that time I've worked with every age population (pediatrics to geriatrics) and diagnosis, including Alzheimers, dementia,depression, diabetic illness, fall risk, respiratory and cardiac conditions.I have also worked in several nursing homes which provided health related to total care.
I enjoy the process of developing / cultivating a 1:1 relationship based on the specific and unique needs of every individual.
I like to educate (what is this medication for ? what are the benefits and possible side effects ? why was this test or treatment ordered ? etc ) and also appreciate that most people do better when they feel like they're an active participant in their own care.
I also incorporate / include a holistic approach to healthcare .. one that considers the whole person - body, mind, spirit and emotions.
I'm a patient listener and like to find creative ways to make a person's life, environment and experience as comfortable and stress free as possible.
I'm also available to run errands, do house cleaning and organizing, laundry, light meal preparation .. just about anything you need !
