Josh’s Bio
I've studied psychology and social welfare in college. I received a bachelors degree in psychology and neuroscience from SUNY Albany.
I have worked with ARC as an in-home direct support professional. My responsibilities were providing care and support to clients with IDⅅ which included teaching and assisting clients with daily needs and life skills. These included things such as routine tasks ranging from personal hygiene to grocery shopping and interacting with the community. Also promoting a safe and friendly environment, managing and administered medication including narcotics, observing and adhering to individual behavior plans and documenting residents records for their health care coordinators.
I have also worked as a companion for an older woman with progressing dementia. My responsibilities included usual companion type activities like going out to enjoy the day, reading together and simply spending time together. As well as helping with chores around the house, grocery shopping and transportation.
I have also spent two years in residency at a Buddhist Monastery where I developed inter and intrapersonal skills. Our goal there is to develop insight and understanding on how compassion, love & kindness, understanding each other and intentional thoughts, speech and action can help alleviate suffering, creating more joy in our and others lives.
