I love caring for our pets; I have 3 cats currently, and they are all rescues from the streets. It took me over a year to catch them, and to gain their trust, and to get them to love me and my family, but it worked! Working in the veterinary assisting field for 12 years has given me a real appreciation for advocating for those who cannot do it themselves. I have also worked 4 years in the human-companion field.... it has so many rewards! I enjoy being patient. I don't take things too personally....I know as we grow older, we may get mixed-up and not be quite the same we were years ago, but that person is always in there,you just have to help bring them out if you can. I have had some great advice and insight from elderly clients that I have worked with...sometimes all it takes is REALLY listening...I have made many friends through my work and have kept in touch even after not "working for them" any more. I also have helped many neighbors and their pets as well,even if it wasn't a paying job. In this day and age, it is important to hear about the past, and to teach our children and grandchildren about that past, and what better way to do that than to assist someone who can teach you about all that!
