Hi! My name is Chelsea and I have extensive experience with elderly care. I recently came back to NYC after spending 2 years in France caring for an individual with Alzheimer's in Paris, France. I was recruited from Alzheimer's association in NYC by a family member who came to us looking for care for her aging mother in Paris. My time there was extreamly rewarding! Being a care companion not only made for the quality of life of the individual better, but mine as well. I lived with Holly (individual) and cared for her on a 24 basis, with the help of another young lady. We were always surrounded by family and friends! Being a care companion had it's challenges, but I feel confident in my ability to provide an individual with the patience, attention and care they need. I provided Holly with emotinal support, as well as physical. Apart from just being buddies, my experience included: helping Holly adapt to cognitive deficits, structured daily activities, optimizing safety, stimulation, and quality of life, Insured that prescribed medications were on-hand and administered, prepared and cooked meals, assisted in bathing and dressing , accompanied individual to home in Corsica for summer holidays, recruited and trained additional caregiver.
