I've seen a few people write that they want someone with experience caring for people other than their family. But what if that is the experience you do have?

My parents waited a very long time to have me, and so in my young age, I've had to care for them. My dad is partially blind and nearing 70, and my mum is in her 60s with a lot of body pains. My care for them includes feeding, drug monitoring, blood pressure checks, and a lot of conversations. My dad, who used to have a very sharp memory, has gradually begun to forget things. But he wants to remain active and in the moment, so I read the news for him and talk to him about anything and everything.

What more can one ask of a companion?

In terms of paid experience, I worked as an aide for a student with a physical disability for a year.

I'm currently a graduate student at Fordham University, and am preparing to go to medical school next year. I love taking care of people. I truly hope you'd let me care for you, your parents, or grandparents.
