Amy C. Care Companion in New York, NY 10032

I am a 23 year old recent graduate of Drew University, where I majored in Theatre Arts and minored in French and European Studies, and am looking to start my career in Arts Education. Consequently, working with children is a particular interest of mine.

I am New York City born and bred, and have been babysitting since I was a young teenager; I regularly babysit for neighborhood families, looking after multiple children of both genders and generally ranging from ages 4 through 9, although I have worked with children as young as 4 months and as old as 12 years. Regular duties include picking up and dropping off children from school and cooking, as well as preparing children for bath-time and bedtime.

I worked at Mt. Tom Day Camp in New Rochelle, NY as the Drama Specialist in the Summer of 2011, where I designed and executed my own Theatre Arts curriculum (as well as a separate "Harry Potter" class which campers could elect to take). I have also worked consistently for a family on the UWS, helping with After-School care, pick-up, errand running, and light housework. Most recently, I finished an educational tour of Much Ado About Nothing with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, where I not only performed the play for 14,000 children, but devised language based workshops.

Given my field of study and my interest in literature, I am a big reader with kids, but also like to play more creative and engaging games that range from Hide & Seek to enacting scenes from books, singing, dress-up, fort making, etc. I consider myself fun and energetic, but I also know when to discipline with time-outs and sacrifices (no TV, etc). I love animals of all sorts (and have a dog myself), and am quite comfortable with any and all pets.
