I obtained a certified nursing assistant certificate after completing the course in upstate New York in the year 2000 . In 1996 both of my parents passed away after illnessess which required home nursing care and companion services 24/7. It was such a painful time for us all and the home care nurses and companions were like a Godsend. I decided to pursue this as a career tobe able to help others as these wonderful home care nurses and companions helped my mom and dad and our family at a very difficult time. I worked in upstate New York for 3 years at a facility for the wives of masons. In that setting I was responsable for the care and well being feeding dressing cooking house cleaning and medicine of about 6 to 8 residents daily. I found it very rewarding and the eastern star home offered a scholarship to me for continuing nursing credits and training. I was able to go to seminars regarding the care and well being of senior citizens, managing household monies, some insurance issues, dealing with family problems and much more. Upon moving back to the state of Ohio ( after livivng in upstate NY for 7 years, I began doing private in home care. I was trained by a hospice organization locally to assist as home care aid for a husband and wife where i worked for 2 years untilthe wife passed away and the husband went to a V.A. home afterwards. Later I updated my continuing education classes on home companionship with a little less focus on the medical nursing. I worked for an agency for a year where i had several different clients weekly. Some were stay over night visits and some were to take the clie t to doctor appointments and errands and cooking for them and cleaning and that type of thing. I am a very up beat, friendly and kind person. I relate very easily to older people. I know alot about history and I know alot of music and songs from different eras such as World War II era songs. I am a good listener and have always been well liked and accepted by those I have cared for and thier families. I also had classes in hair and make up when I was younger and so I also have helped many a person get ready for a special occassion by helping them with thier appearance and clothing which generally makes us all feel better about ourselves. I have many letters of recommendation and thanks and praise from families and a couple nursing homes as well. I am very adaptable, responsable honest and hard working.
