Hello! My name is Stacy Smith and I want to thank you for considering me for your sitting needs! I am 18 years old and a full time student at the University of Cincinnati. I love helping people, which can be seen through my philanthropy experience in my sorority, my desires to become a teacher, and my goal of helping provide you and your family with the best care possible!
I am licensed in Ohio as a State Tested Nurse Aide, which qualifies me to assist people with activities of daily living in order to help them feel comfortable and stay independent. I currently work part time at a long term care nursing facility with 60 geriatric residents. Although being a STNA is typically associated with working for an older population, the skills that I know and use on a daily basis are applicable to caring for infants, children, and people with special needs.
I also have five years of babysitting experience. I regularly babysat a family member's two sons, starting when they were seven and four years old. While babysitting, I assisted the family with housekeeping and cooking, I helped the children with homework and actively played with them, as opposed to just supervising, and I provided pet care for two dogs and a cat.
I am currently learning American Sign Language at UC and am in Intermediate track this year. This means that although I am not yet fluent, I have taken all of the beginning level courses and have enough knowledge to maintain a conversation and even teach children basic vocabulary skills.
In the past I have taken babysitting courses through the Red Cross and have been CPR certified, so while I am in the process of being officially certified again, I do have the education and practice in case of an emergency.
