I've been in elder care and caregiving for over twenty years. I came into the field when a neighbor was found wandering the neighborhood; his aide had apparently stopped coming and never notified the family. I took the neighbor home, convinced him to get a shower and I cleaned up a bit and made him breakfast. He was eating when his daughter arrived. I explained the situation, left my phone number and went home. Four hours later, I had a full time job caring for this man and I ended up caring for him for five years until he passed away. I've worked in home health, hospitals, hospice and nursing homes and am a State Tested Nurse Aide with a valid license.
