Hello. My name is Stacy Fowler. I'm a 48 year old divorced mother and have two wonderful adult children ages 22 and 27. I had the blessing of being a stay-at-home mother for the better part of 20 years.
Throughout my life I have had the privilege of helping my elders. Perhaps I am an "old soul" for I have always been drawn toward the elderly. For a year and a half after high school, I lived with my 94 year old great grandmother so she could stay in her home as long as possible. Later, I tended to a lovely gentleman with Alzheimer's and after him, I helped my elderly neighbors, who were sisters. In all these situations, I generally cooked, cleaned, bathed, monitored blood sugar and medicines, ran errands but more importantly, I learned from them and we laughed alot.
For the past four years I have had the honor and time of my life spending it with Mr. and Mrs. Kenny and Avonelle McMath, both of whom suffered from dementia. Two years ago I lost Kenny and sadly my friend Avonelle is now succumbing to aging, congestive heart failure and dementia.
