Growing up I watched my aunt (who was my mother) take care of her mom (my Grandmother) at home until her passing at 100 years old. I started working at a Nursing Facility as a Nurse Aid. Then I started working as an Habilitation Training Specialist (HTS) working with People with Disabilities. Later I started working assignments through a local agency as a Mental Health Tech and a Patient Sitter. Then my aunts health began to decline and she was diagnosed with Dementia and later Alzheimer. I stopped working, to take care of my aunt full-time in her home for the last 12 years of her life until her passing at 101 years old. After that I returned to working as an HTS for a few years, then started working as a in-home Private Duty Companion/ Caregiver.
So for me, being a Caregiver is as normal as breathing...AND I LOVE TO DO THAT!
