I am currently retired from a Fortune 500 company in the Pittsburgh area. My personal experience as a caregiver started over 35 years ago when my grandmother passed away suddenly and my 87 year old grandfather was left alone. He was blind and could not take care of himself, but refused to move out of his home. My family asked me to move in and take care of him since I was not working at the time. My son and I lived with him for almost five years providing 24/7 care for him. Most recently, my mother developed cancer and for six months this year, my sister and I provided 24/7 care for my mom and dad until she was well enough to take care of herself again. My dad also suffers from macular degeneration and is now considered legally blind and could not take care of my mom. I am a kind, loving and compassionate person willing to do whatever it takes to bring a little joy into someone's life. I can help with all aspects of caregiving including bathing, dressing, meal preparation and light housework. While I was working, every year we were required to complete a CPR/AED certification class. My most recent certification was in May 2013.
