I currently work full time as a trainee psychotherapist at Johnson and Wales University Counseling Services. Last year, I worked full time as a clinical case manager for seniors and other adults at an outpatient, community-based wing of the University of California San Francisco Deptartment of Psychiatry. My clinical work has included support of individuals with diverse mental health concerns, as well as differences and disabilities of a physical and cognitive nature. I am completing my current internship as part of a low-residency masters program in clinical social work at Smith College in Northampton, MA. My studies at Smith have provided me with graduate-level training in human development, as well as exposure to an array of strategies useful for supporting individuals and groups across the lifespan. Prior to beginning my studies at Smith, I graduated from Swarthmore College with academic distinction and earned a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. In addition to the above experience, I began caring for my grandmother years ago during her fight with Alzheimer's Disease and enjoyed spending time with her at home. Though she has since passed on, I find that I enjoy opportunities to spend time with seniors and absorb some of the wisdom that comes with having watched the world change. I also find that my training in human development at Smith College has enhanced my capacity to care for older adults.
I should mention that I have a particular interest in outdoor activities such as gardening-- an activity that I regularly shared with my grandmother. I also enjoy various kinds of physical movement (e.g. yoga, dance, martial arts) as someone with an extensive dance background and would be happy to share that with a new friend, too.
My internship hours are such that I am available for childcare Tuesday through Friday evenings after 5pm, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. Though I would welcome opportunities to work with families on an as-needed basis, I have a particular interest in working with a family regularly, perhaps in a weekend nanny capacity. Additionally, I have a car and can travel easily if need be.
